Return of the Kolache!

Julian Foglietti

Kolache eaters rejoice! Kolache Republic, the Czech style stuffed pastry cafe has announced plans to reopen inside the Daily Growler. The German Village cafe that introduced Columbus to the work of Kolache, a yeasted dough baked pastry filled with different fillings, has announced their intent to reopen after closing in February due to rent increases.

Owners Rick Jardiolin and Dusty Kotchou were originally exposed to the baked goods in Texas, where a large Chezch immigrant population made the treat popular statewide. Upon moving to Ohio, Jardiolin met Kotchou and the two felt they could fill a gap in the market and introduce Midwesterners to the Texas staple.

With the new partnership with The Daily Growler Jardiolin and Kotchou hope to expand their Kolache offerings to include more savory varieties that can accompany happy hour, as well as bring many fans their favorite frozen treat back.

“Were very close with the community that came to the shop, and when we originally closed we saw a lot of outcry from people who missed the food.” said Jardolin.

No matter what many are eagerly awaiting the reopening of the spot, and the opportunity to get their Kolache fix once again.
